An investigation task tracker turns case follow-up into visible, assignable work. It is especially useful when a case has multiple requests, reviews and next actions occurring at the same time.
What to track
Useful fields include task ID, task description, related issue, owner, assigned date, target date, priority, status, dependency and outcome.
Write tasks as actions
Specific tasks are easier to review than vague reminders. Identify what needs to happen and what will indicate completion.
Track dependencies
If one task cannot proceed until a record or response arrives, preserve that dependency rather than making the task appear inactive without explanation.
Retain completed outcomes
Closing a task should preserve what happened and when rather than deleting the task from the record.
