Lead management is more than keeping a list of ideas. A structured investigation lead management template helps show where a lead came from, why it matters, who owns it, what action is next and how it was resolved.
Useful lead fields
Consider lead ID, date identified, description, originating source, priority, owner, status, next action, due or review date and outcome.
Preserve lead origin
Record the source, interview, timeline event or other information that generated the lead so its context is not lost.
Use defined statuses
Consistent statuses such as new, assigned, in progress, waiting and closed make open work easier to filter.
Close with an outcome
Retain what was done and what resulted rather than deleting leads when they are completed.
