An investigation findings table can help organize a multi-issue case without losing the connection between each issue and the information considered.
Useful findings-table fields
Consider issue ID, issue or question, supporting source references, conflicting information, limitations, analysis reference, finding or status and follow-up.
Keep source references attached
Use stable IDs so the table can point to documents, interviews and other records instead of replacing them.
Show conflicting information
Material information pointing in different directions should remain visible during review.
Use the required findings standard
Organizations and jurisdictions may define specific standards and terminology for findings. A general template should not substitute for those requirements.
See the CaseWorks Source & Evidence Documentation Pack or the Case Management System.
